Join us for an enlightening conversation with Esperanza Leon, a passionate advocate for art, history, and community building. Esperanza shares her Venezuelan roots, life experiences in the Hamptons, and how her family’s history has shaped her identity. She also discusses her love for books, including works by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Alastair Gordon, as well as her role at Longhouse as the Head of Education & Community Engagement.
In this episode, Esperanza and I explore the importance of education as a lifelong practice. She reflects on the power of creating a classroom where people of all ages can come together to learn, share, and mentor one another through the sensory experience of art.
Along the way, we also touch on Jack Leonard Larsen, the founder of Longhouse, whose work as a weaver and community builder has had a lasting influence on my time in New York. Be sure to check out this wonderful Longhouse!
